My name  is Teresa, although generally am known to others as Tre (pronounced tree). I have an addiction to coffee, a fascination with all things Zombie and am a terrible subject geek.

This is my first year of teaching, so I’m an NQT at the Sixth Form Centre. I teach Biology on the AS, BTEC first and BTEC national course and a little bit of chemistry (although not out of choice) with the BTEC firsts.

This is a fairly challenging year as not only am I an NQT in a new centre, but I’m one of the two NQT’s who make up the Biology team. Add to this that both of us did our PGCE in secondary education and had never taught A-level let alone BTEC before now and you have one very busy first year of teaching. Busy, but great I might add.

My history is from a molecular/medical sciences background. I’ve worked in Operating theatres since I was 16 years old to help fund my degrees. I went to Bangor to study Biomolecular science, then Sheffield to do a masters in Biomedical Basis of Disease. From there to teaching at Greenwich, which was a left at the traffic lights for me, but I quite honestly can’t imagine a better career.

I hope to learn how to use IT in a more effective and seamless way than I have been, I look forward to exploring all of the new toys ttp has to offer and sincerely hope that the course challenges me to make some good changes in my own classroom teaching, and hopefully in the centre as a whole.
